Congressman Rob Bishop has turned his back on Top Of Utah citizens yet again. Last week he was against the Central America Free Trade Agreement. Then House Republican leader Tom DeLay needed one last vote and Bishop flip-flopped, voting to bring Third World prices and wages to Utah’s family farms and manufacturers.
This isn’t the first time. Last year, citizens asked Congress to limit the worst abuses of the so-called Patriot Act. We won the vote and Bishop was with us, but then DeLay held the 15-minute vote open for 40 minutes and pressured weak-kneed congressmen to switch their votes. Bishop flip-flopped, and we lost by one vote.
What good is a congressman we can’t rely on, even when he promises to support us?
